Paul David Baba received his PhD in Ceramics Science from the College of Engineering at Rutgers University. He performed scientific studies at Bell Telephone Laboratories, Murray Hill, New Jersey, the premier research organization in the world at that time. Ampex Corporation recruited him to a management position to develop innovative magnetic materials for wear-resistant tape recorder heads and microwave materials with superior memory capabilities. These developments led to products, and Dr. Baba's presentations to the board produced the funding to initiate a manufacturing facility that was profitable in its first year. The success of this small business led to his promotion to General Manager. He later joined Integrated Automation, a Litton Industries subsidiary, as Division Manager of a document-imaging division. He was known throughout the world as an expert in his field, and recently was invited to China to give seminars on his work at Ampex. Because of military significance, he turned down the invitation.
