Her deep love and response to nature has been nurtured by summer vacations spent at Priest Lake, ID and many weekends on the Oregon Coast. She has had a life-long interest in all the creative arts and, along with her husband, encouraged and supported these ventures in the Eugene community and at the University of Oregon.Each year the Department of Creative Writing at the University of Oregon gives the "Miriam McFall Starlin Poetry Award" to an outstanding woman student of poetry.
