Biography:

E. B. Pusey (1800-1882) was Professor of Hebrew at the University of Oxford from 1828 until his death. He was a noted preacher, but is best known as a leader of the Oxford Movement. This Church revival, which began in 1833, was aimed at restoring to the Church of England the High Church ideals of the seventeenth century. Pusey was also a noted patristic scholar, and edited, with Keble and Newman, 'A Library of the Fathers of the Holy Catholic Church' (1838-1885); he was solely responsible for the first volume, 'Augustine's Confessions'.
