Patrick Jurd grew up in Parramatta, Australia as one of eight children, heavily influenced by his mother's faith. Formed by the Sisters of Mercy and Marist Brothers, he completed a Science degree at Sydney University before moving to Melbourne to marry his wife, AnneMaree Eddy. He has been happily married for over thirty years and has two adult sons. His sons were his research assistants as he completed a Master of Theology with the topic "Encountering the justice of God's reign through music: The use of contemporary music in the Christian religious education of young adults." He taught for more than twenty-five years in Lasallian schools and it was the inspiration of the Lasallian charism that led to his written reflections. He has over thirty years of teaching experience in Melbourne Catholic schools and more than fifteen years of experience in faith leadership. Patrick is currently the Director of Faith and Religious Education at Ave Maria College, Aberfeldie.
