Endorsements & Reviews-

"Leanne McCall Tigert combines her experience and expertise, as both minister and psychotherapist, to write the best book I have read on how to deal with homophobia. From her extensive experience as pastor and therapist, she gives sound, holistic advice to those who arc struggling to heal themselves and free themselves from the internal and external forms of this oppression. Anyone who reads this book will have no doubt that homophobia is a disease that permeates our society and frequently our churches, and it is only through the power of the Holy Spirit and courageous effort that we can win our liberation. The skilled advice of Tigert will be a great help in that struggle."
--John McNeill, author of The Church and the Homosexual and Taking a Chance on God: Liberating Theology for Gays, Lesbians, and Their Lovers, Families, and Friends

"Drawing upon the wellsprings of Scripture and spirituality as well as the literature of recovery from war, slavery, the Holocaust, sexual abuse, shame, and apartheid, this hope-filled book offers an understanding of many gay and lesbian journeys as well as tools for personal and congregational growth. Tigert writes with passion, compassion, and humor, introducing us to real people engaged in creating strong, loving lives in the face of personal and social oppression. Poetry and hymns serve as the framework for an open and revealing conversation with the reader, providing opportunity for meditation, insight, and surprising joy."
--Susan E. Davies, Jonathan Fisher Professor of Christian Education and Academic Dean, Bangor Theological Seminary, Bangor, Maine
