About-

This book is for anyone who yearns to enter more fully into the world Jesus inhabited, not as an intellectual exercise, but as an aid to authentic personal devotion.
The King of the Jews ponders five defining moments from the ministry of Jesus and lingers at a series of events that, historically, must have unfolded rapidly. Within twenty-four hours of his arrest, Jesus was dead, yet these events are so momentous that they repay careful meditation: first upon the night of trials, and then the seven sayings from the cross, and finally, the ten thrilling post-resurrection appearances of Jesus.
Each meditation adds up to a whole message that presents the King who came to take his throne and who does finally take it. But he takes it not by force, but by facing down evil through the agony of the cross, and now invites the hurting to share in his triumph.

Endorsements & Reviews-

"In this series of short reflections, Ben Pugh brings together significant scholarship and a rich imagination that enables us to walk with Jesus to the cross and beyond. His accessible style, mixed with the depth of his insights, provides a wonderful guide for a month of spiritual exploration. I encourage you to spend these twenty-eight moments with the Son of God."
--Christopher Blake, Cliff College, UK

"I am always thankful for anything that helps me to think about Jesus. When that provocation is backed by solid scholarship, a grounded theology, an enlivened imagination, and a gift for storytelling, my reflection is both enjoyable and challenging. That is what Ben Pugh has produced in this unique package of thoughts, prayers, and contemporary observations--inspiring!"
--David Shearman, Christian Centre, UK

"Ben engages the reader, page after page, as he illuminates the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. In bite-sized chunks filled with insight and depth, The King of the Jews is a book that will deepen your appreciation of the Scriptures and increase your understanding of the greatest person in human history. Whether you are a longtime follower of Jesus or seeking answers, this is a great place to look."

Bio(s)-

Ben Pugh is Lecturer in Theology at Cliff College, UK. He is the author of Atonement Theories: A Way Through the Maze (forthcoming).

Ever since acquiring his first typewriter at the age of sixteen, he wanted to write. Ben came to faith at the age of nineteen as an art student, without having any previous background in Christianity. It was inevitable that sooner or later he would turn his hand to writing about faith. First as a career, and later as an artist and a civil servant, he found his way into writing about faith and lecturing in theology.
