Calvin Seerveld is emeritated professor of philosophical aesthetics at the graduate Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto, Older Testament studies is a hobby for him.
His translation and exploration of the Song of Songs, presented as a chorus of voices, is in book form (second edition, 1988) and on video (2001). A new edition of a number of scripture translations and meditations, with study notes, is in print, Take Hold of God and Pull (1999).
His is husband to Inès Cecile Naudin ten Cate, who speaks several languages, is very patient, and is a resourceful woman in geography and history. They live in Toronto. Seerveld ran distance track at school and college, and as an undergraduate philosophy professor won a brown belt in judo (“the gentle art”).
