Milo Kauffman was born on February 13, 1898, near Harrisonville, Missouri. He spent his boyhood years on a farm in North Dakota. He received his B.A. from Hesston College, a B.D. from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, the MA from McCormick, and the S.T.D. from Pikes Peak Seminary.
From 1932 to 1951 he was president of Hesston College, and since that time has served intermittently on the faculty. He was asked to prepare the Conrad Grebel Lectures in 1953 on Christian stewardship. These lectures were published as The Challenge of Christian Stewardship. The book went through five printings and enjoyed a wide acceptance. IN 1962 Kauffman was asked by the Mennonite Board of Missions to deliver the lectures to churches and Christian groups in India and Japan.
Kauffman was ordained to the ministry in 1924 and held pastorates in Kansas and Illinois. He served widely in evangelistic meetings and Bible conferences, as well as on church boards and committees.
