A Layman Investigates Universal Salvation
Discovering the Truly Good News
Imprint: Resource Publications
What do you know about universal salvation? What is its history? Have mistranslations of the Bible created an eternal hell that does not really exist? What prominent persons in Christian history taught this doctrine and which ones worked to destroy it? Is the teaching of universal salvation truly a heresy, or has it been suppressed by church leaders interested in controlling their people by fear?
Patrick Seamus O'Hara needed answers to these questions. This book is the result of research in which he went back into Christian history to examine events leading to the suppression of this once-popular teaching in Christianity. Drawing from ancient writings, he looks at problems with Bible translations, political intrigues within the church, and the personal foibles of church leaders which led to the teaching of universal salvation disappearing from the Christian lexicon.
The three main objections to universal salvation are the Fifth Ecumenical Council, the Bible, and the writings of the early church fathers. The author examines each one of these and shares from his research the reasons these are not legitimate objections. The universal salvation of God's immense love is truly the good news of the gospel!
Patrick Seamus O’Hara is an author who lives in Fairfax, Virginia. His books include Everlasting Green: Stories of Faith, Hope, and Charity, and Magnolias in December. His blog can be found at WordPress under the name thereluctantheretic17.
“This book is for Christians and non-Christians alike in an era dominated by the Roman ‘gospel.’ In a simple and straightforward manner, Patrick O’Hara shows that the Roman tradition does not define Christianity: Jesus is Healer, not courtroom judge.”

“In a world of long, dark shadows cast by the gloomy dungeons of Western theology, the beauty of the angel’s gospel of glad tidings of great joy for all mankind is sometimes obscured. Well done to Patrick for his perspicuous illumination of the historical narrow path of the great gospel of universal salvation in God’s ultimate redemption of all creation, the promise first given to Abraham, later sealed in holy blood at Calvary. All glory to God!”

“Very scholarly work for this layman. . . . I like the no-holds-barred but respectful approach to the history of the Western/Latin Church. The author demonstrates that he is well-read and provides tons of valuable and convincing citations. This work represents a fresh and interesting approach to the subject. Well worth reading.”

“Patrick O’Hara has given us a delightful and informative read. . . . With common (‘horse’) sense and an unapologetic earthiness, he traverses the history of critical issues at stake in the current and growing discussion over the eternal destiny of humanity. . . . I highly recommend this work as a worthy addition to your library—a great resource and a distinct voice in this all-important conversation!”
