Bio(s)-

William P. Brown is Professor of Old Testament at Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. He received his BA from Whitman College, his MDiv from Princeton Theological Seminary, and studied at Eberhard-Karls Universität as Tübingen Exchange Fellow from Princeton Theological Seminary. He received his PhD from Emory University in 1991. Brown’s major interests include wisdom literature, creation theology and the prophets. An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), he has served churches in Arizona and New Jersey. He is currently co-convenor of the Character Ethics and Biblical Interpretation Group of the Society of Biblical Literature. His recent books include Ecclesiastes (Interpretation series) (Louisville: John Knox Press, 2000), The Ethos of the Cosmos: The Genesis of Moral Imagination in the Bible (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1999), and Character in Crisis: A Fresh Approach to the Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament (Grand Rapids: Eerdmans, 1996). He is co-editor of Interpretation: A Journal of Bible and Theology.
